They truck a bunch of snow in to coat main street and build a half dozen jumps. Then a rider on a horse gallops down the street pulling a skier on downhill skis. The skier navigates over the jumps while trying to collect rings that hang along the course. Each ring gathered deducts time, and whichever team has the shortest time wins. http://www.leadvilleskijoring.us/ The small high mountain mining towns of CO also have a burro racing circuit, in which runners run alongside burros packing thirty pounds of gear for 10-30 miles up and down mountain passes. I have yet to figure out a way to get my Yorkies into skijoring. In addition to having a combined weight of less than 10 lbs., unlike Rachel's Helen, they are not prodigies. Not at all. I will have to content myself with cheering Rachel and Helen on from the sidelines. Looking forward to many more posts! I'm an eventer which is described as a horse triathalon. That "ethic of care" that Rachel describes is indeed a critical part of the sport and why, ultimately, it's so much more meaningful to me. I practice yoga as a training tool so I have the balance and strength to be a trustworthy partner to my horse. A horse can't perform well unless the rider is strong, balanced, and focused too. While I love yoga and running and water sports it is SO refreshing to see Athleta feature more niche sports with a 4-legged partner. I’m an eventer which is described as a horse triathalon. So while on summer holidays with my family and friends decided to try SURFING! It was awesome!! Hope I had tried it before.... Luckily it's never too late. I dragged three friends with me but unfortunately they were not as enthusiastic as I was. Now my next goal is jumping with a parachute!! I only need my husband to approve... This year I turned forty and decided it was time to start accomplishing my longtime dreams.

There's nothing like the feeling of catching your first wave on a surf board and riding it. The week away sounds heavenly - so important to be able to take time to focus on yourself.
