  1. I would like to know what your Athleta models follow for their exercise routines and eating plans…how the fit it in to their life, and their best advice of getting up and running. I was once in very good shape and remember how great I felt. It has been about 10 years or more, though, so I need to do this now, not later! For me it is about feeling strong, kick butt strong, and I find your models very inspiring. I just turned 35 and have had enough of feeling like junk! I am especially drawn to the model that is dark/olive skinned and absolutely ripped! She seems very comfortable in her skin yet modest about it.

  2. Jen B, glad you’re inspired by the athletes who model for Athleta. They’re all amazing women and we’re hoping to share more about their lifestyle and fitness routines soon. Thanks for the great suggestion.

  3. So glad to see someone else making a comment about the absolutely amazing models that make up your catalog. I’m inspired by their physique and would also love to know more about their bios daily routines. As for “Jen B” just GET UP and GET OUT!! Everyone has their “feel like s*#% days but for 5 minutes or 5 hours, you gotta start somewhere!!

  8. The catalogue models are amazing. Fit, toned, & strong, yet very feminine, not grotesquely overdeveloped.

  9. I agree with all of these ladies! They are truly inspiring when it comes to a healthy body images! Too many publications nowadays don’t promote models who have these kind of lifestyles and I find it refreshing to see models who don’t just “walk the walk”, but “talk the talk”!!! Bravo Athleta! I would too be interested in becoming an Athleta model someday and inspire others!

  10. Hello
My name is Sarah Meeks and I’m inquiring about what is needed to be considered a model for Athleta? I am 5’10” and weigh about 126lbs. I practice bikram yoga daily and ride colts on my families ranch in Montana so, I would consider myself in pretty great shape. My mother is Norweigan and Salish/Cree (montana native american tribes) and my father is French/Irish. I have black hair and green eyes and have been told that I have an exotic look. Anyways, I love your product and would love the opportunity to work as a model if you were interested. I can send photos if you are. Thank you for your time.

  12. I just received the fall 2009 catalog. Please bring back the prior models. They were much more athletic looking. The catalog has a whole new feel and I prefer the previous look and feel that made Athleta popular.

  13. Ditto to Kim’s comment. What happened to the models you used to feature in the previous catalogs? It looks like you went to the local high school to pick some of them. This is NOT the direction I was hoping The Gap would take with Athleta. Don’t mess with your loyal customer base and go all teeny-bopper on me. Didn’t The Gap already try that and fail? I just received my fall catalog and it is really underwhelming. I used to get giddy just looking at all the cool stuff…..not this time.

  14. YES – whats up with the cookie cutter models? You are going in the WRONG direction.

  15. I, too, want to second Kim’s, Ann’s, and Wendy’s comments about the models. I’m glad to know I’m not the only one that feels this way. I really liked the toned models you used before, not these run-of-the-mill models who have no muscle tone whatsoever.

  16. Ladies, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about our models. We want you to know that while we’ve featured some new faces in recent catalogs, Athleta remains committed to working only with women who are true, accomplished athletes. You may also be missing one of our favorite model/athletes, who is currently taking time off for family. We miss her inspirational presence too!

    Thanks again for your feedback.

  17. All your new models look too soft. Where’s the dark haired really tone girl? More models like her please.

  18. I believe June (#17) is referring to Jet. She was very inspiring to me. Very fit yet not over the top. It would be great to bring her back…

  19. I’m not positive but I’m pretty sure that I saw one of the new Athleta catalog models on a GAP television commercial. In the past The Gap has not featured athletes in their ads so it might be stretching the truth a little to say that Athleta works only with true athletes. I remain a skeptic and it’s a real shame because the former Athleta models were an true inspiration for me. After I first saw them in the catalog I made the decision to tone up and get fit AND wear the clothes I saw them modeling. I know that some of photos and models in the current catalog are from last winter. It’s very disheartening. :(

  20. Hi There — I love seeing the behind the scenes images on your photos shoots. I was curious how one submits a portfolio for consideration to shoot for Athleta? I see you have a submissions area for models, but who should I contact for photography. I live in Whitefish, Montana and we have some beautiful locations that could be great for your shoots. Thanks for the help!

  22. Thank goodness she is back!!!! I am referring to the dark haired model that has been with Athleta for years (thumbnail pic 13 on left side and I am pretty sure with the natural smile on thumbnail pic 25). She has always been my favorite Athleta model and she seemed to disappear from promotion for several months after Banana and Athleta merged. I have forever admired her. She is a true inspiration to all women that try so hard to manage a work/social/family/healthy lifestyle. Her image represents a goal that many would love to achieve (I acknowledge her dedication but she still must have awesome family genes). So amazing….Fit, athletic, healthy, outwardly conveys confidence and happiness : all without being too much of any. SHE INSPIRES ME!!!!!! Thanks for keeping her modeling your beautiful clothing line.

  23. dingbatt, thanks for the feedback. The model you’re referring to has been taking time off (these pics are from 2009), unrelated to anything but making her family a priority. I’m sure we can all appreciate that. She’s an inspiration to many, and we look forward to seeing her again.

  25. I know there are athletes who are 40+ and have kick-ass bodies. I think it would be really cool to show amazing women on your pages, tell us their stories, and tell us their AGES. What is inspiring isn’t just young athletes…what inspires me are beautiful women of ALL ages who are athletic.

  26. Hello,
Who shot the spring 2009 catalog? Specifically trying to find out who shot the picture of Brook Power surfing on the red longboard. Was it Lori Adamski Peek (or is it spelled Peak)?
    Thank you,
    -Gabe
