Kettlebell Sport Comes to Athleta
Team Athleta • Oct 13th, 2008 • Category: Inside AthletaThe ladies and gents of Athleta had a special treat last Friday when Maya and the Ice Chamber Kettlebell Team came to our Petaluma headquarters to share their passion (and shed their perspiration) for Kettlebell Sport. The demo included a mini-version of the women’s competitive events and (a testament to the power of these women) even a men’s event. Here are some of the highlights.

Jessica shows the difference between popularized American styles of kettlebell lifting…

And Eastern European techniques.

Maya demonstrates the Snatch at 14 rpm (repetitions per minute) with 16 kg (35 lbs).

Surya shows the One Arm Long Cycle at 10 rpm with 20 kg (44 lbs).

Heidy leaps across the gender gap, demonstrating the men’s
Two Arm Long Cycle at 8 rpm with 12 kg kettlebells (total 52 lbs).

Maya shows her powerhouse core strength performing a
Double Turkish Get-Up with two 16 kg kettlebells (70 lbs total).

In a company filled with people who are passionate about athletics,
the audience is eager to participate.

Thank you (l to r) Heidy, Coach Steven, Maya, Jessica and Surya for an awesome, inspiring event!

Thank you Team Athleta for hosting this special event. We had a great time seeing you all in action! Photo number seven says it all. What a blast!
A big shout out to Michelle for setting this up… and awesome photography by Bret! It was great to see Team Athleta in action. You all are fast learners and great athletes. Thanks again to everyone for their participation!
Thank you Maya and team for sharing your strength, commitment and passion. I have two “favorite moments” from the day: 1. I enjoyed hearing each of you touch on the mental and meditative qualities you have developed to acheive your training and competitive results; and 2. Heidy rocked at demonstrating the men’s skill with two kettlebells!
I look forward to following your team’s progress!
Amazing! You women rock!
It’s fun to be exposed to new sports and the whole team gave so much information about the sport and techniques. Heidy demonstrating the men’s version with two kettleballs and Maya’s Double Turkish Get-Up were particularly impressive.
Thanks so much to the Ice Chamber Kettleball Team and good luck this coming year. Keep us posted!
