The Power of She: Meet the #AthletaSquad

When we launched the Power of She campaign, we set out to spark a movement inviting women and girls to stand together, collaborate, and put an end to undermining.

Alone we are strong, united we thrive. Together we create the Power of She.

When know that when women all stand together, we can create something very powerful. So we decided to take our sisterhood to the next level, and we’re proud to announce our new Athleta Squad, formed by Natalie, Aly, Jordan and Tia. These four diverse women all represent the Power of She, and have joined forces to inspire other women and girls to empower one another.

Follow us on Instagram and subscribe to our blog for weekly updates on how they each live out the Power of She.

Meet the Athleta Squad

The Olympic Swimmer

Natalie Coughlin is a competitive swimmer and a twelve-time Olympic medalist. She’s a University of California, Berkeley graduate, where she became the first woman ever to swim the 100-meter backstroke in less than one minute. When not swimming, she loves to cook, take photos, cheer on her favorite sports teams (and fun fact: she is a Dancing with the Stars Alum!).

“I’m so excited to partner with Athleta on the #PowerOfShe campaign because it celebrates women leading healthy lifestyles together. I’ve always trained on a team and the friendships that I made through my team will last a lifetime. I love that #PowerOfShe highlights the strength of women while promoting healthy collaboration. It’s a positive message that reminds us that we can all benefit from lifting each other up.” –NC

The Fitness Entrepreneur

Aly Teich is a native of Manhattan and has always led an active life. She danced her way through the School of American Ballet until her teens, competed on horseback, lettered in three varsity high school sports, and completed three marathons. Since then, she has lived on both coasts and traveled around the world. In the Fall of 2013, she decided to bring all of her experience and passion to one place, The Sweat Life, an online community dedicated to helping people live their healthiest and best life.

“To me, #PowerofShe means celebrating the true power and strength of women which goes well beyond the shape of our bodies or the way we look in general. In this time when social media rules the world and, as women, there is so much emphasis placed on our weight, our clothes, and our fitness levels, this campaign reminds us that we are no matter how we look, our true power lies within and in each other and we will always be stronger when we choose to support and lift each other up rather than compare and judge each other.” –AT

The Inner Wellness Blogger

Jordan Younger is behind the lifestyle and wellness blog, The Balanced Blonde. She is a student at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, where she is studying to become a health coach. She’s passionate about balanced eating, and her blog focuses on whole-foods based recipes that celebrate healthy satisfaction over sacrifice. When she isn’t blogging, you can find Jordan on her yoga mat, snuggling with her kitten, sipping on green smoothies and training for marathons.

“I think the #PowerOfShe campaign is awesome because there is nothing more important to me than the female friendships in my life. I put so much love and energy into my close friends, and one of my favorite things to do with my girlfriends is exercise and live the healthy lifestyle. I would be nowhere without them. And everything is more fun with friends. #PowerOfShe all the way!” –JY

The Actress, Chef and Power-Mom

Tia Mowry rose to fame in her early years starring opposite her twin sister, Tamera, in the hit TV show Sister, Sister. Her acting skills won her two NAACP Image Awards and three Kids Choice Awards for Favorite Television Actress. Most recently, Tia starred in The Game on CW and BET, and served as Executive Director for The Style Network’s Tia and Tamera. She is also currently a host on Food Network’s Star Kids. When not acting, she spends time in Los Angeles with her husband Cory Hardrict, and her son Cree Taylor.
