Texas Beach Hike

Summer is meant to be celebrated, soaked in and explored. For just a few shorts months we are blessed with longer, sunny days, meant to spend countless hours outdoors, living life. This past weekend we took a short trip to a local riverside beach complete with rocks for sunning, trails to conquer and a view fit for a few sun salutations; to do just that, explore.

Packing up just a few essentials, bikinis made to do double duty, hiking gear, great reading material and an extra few layers just in case, we were on our way.

The journey was honestly a little scary, two girls tip toeing through lush, desolate trails, we thought of turning back a few times. Luckily, we didn’t and just a few mosquito bites later we were toes deep in warm river water.

Gracing the beach as the sun rose, we had the entire coastline to ourselves. We sun bathed and gossiped (ya know, typical girl time) while doing what we love most: having fun being active.

Before long the trails were abuzz with runners and cyclists. We swapped our sandals for sneakers and took to the trails, discovering beautiful landscapes and making new friends along the way. After sweating it out we returned to the beach to spend the rest of the day skipping rocks and soaking in the beautiful summer sun.

A big thank you to Athleta for sponsoring this post.

Eileen, Texas Beach is actually at the James River Park in Richmond, VA. Here’s some info if you’re ever in the area! http://jamesriverpark.org/visit-the-park/hit-the-trails.php

I had the same question as Eileen as I have been exploring the Texas beaches…and disliked one more than the other, to be quite honest. People will drive their trucks to the water and line them up to BBQ – that’s what they call beach visit. There is very little interesting area to hike or explore around and other than rough dark brown dirty sand and ugly hotels there is not much I have seen – yet. Is there maybe someone familiar with a beautiful beach area in TX where hiking trails are present?
What a bummer!! I saw the pictures and was all in love with this “Texas” beach!!! Hahaha… Virginia it is…take good care and thank you so much for sharing!
