I have just discovered the wonders of paddleboarding! I have only been able to go a few times on the ocean as I don’t have access to one (hint, hint) but as a lover of nature, peace and quiet, and a wonderful core workout (so many favorites all at once!) I AM HOOKED!!! The BOGA board looks amazing! Just right for a woman! Love Athleta – I exercise every day – walking, TRX, Zenga, Pilates, Zumba, Barre and Indorow – the clothes are comfortable and beautiful on. Dakine makes great equipment! I would be so excited to have my own paddleboard and be able to go on a daily basis. I’m in my mid 50′s and still full of adventure and love of life, I love to try new things! I have a daughter in college so affording one these days is out of the question… I’d share it with her if won!!! Thanks!

  2. Ten years ago I moved from Pennsylvania to Hawaii and learned to surf at age thirty. Three years ago I moved back to PA to be closer to my parents. Sadly, I had to give up my favorite daily activity, surfing. Here in Pennsylvania, I have not yet found anything to replace my love of surfing. One year ago I saw paddleboard yoga for the first time in Key West and said “I was born to teach that!” Surfing and yoga. My two favorite things. As a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, yoga instructor, and now a health coach, I knew this would be next! I immediately searched out a place to get certified to teach paddleboard yoga. I have been certified for almost a year and still don’t have a board. I have decided that this summer I will do whatever it takes to not only get myself out paddling on the rivers and lakes in Pennsylvania, but I will begin to share my love for these two sports through paddleboard yoga classes so that others in this rural PA mountain town can experience what those who are lucky enough to live in Hawaii get to experience every day.

How you’ll explore infinite paddling adventures with a new BOGA Yoga stand up paddleboard and gear from Dakine and Athleta:
Last summer my husband bought a paddleboard and joined the Fingerlakes Paddleboard Club. I tagged along on the last two trips and rented a board. I’ve decided I absolutely need my own, and the BOGA boards are gorgeous! I don’t want to just rent once a week, I want to take the paddleboard yoga classes I’ve seen posted at our local kyak shop, I want to be doing downward dog with my dog on the front! I want to take my toddler out on the lake every day so we can and GET OUTSIDE. It’s been snowing in upstate NY since November and we need OUT!! The Paddleboard Club owner spends all winter in Key West and everyday taunts us with his facebook posts. Next winter, that could be me! I also need to look fabulous doing it, so the Athleta gear is just what I need.

Love being on the water! Lakes, bays, marinas, etc. often have debris in the water. Why not do something good for the environment while enjoying the great outdoors. Gather a few friends, paddle around, soak up some sun and help Mother Nature with a little cleaning. Every little bit helps! That’s the way to BOGA!

I paddle, and travel, throughout California and the world and experiencing SUP from the water at a new place imprints a permanent memory for me. I experienced the friendliness of a surfer on Easter Island last year loaning me his SUP for the week that I was there, “pick it up anytime that you wanna paddle,” and I hope to share that spirit wherever I go. Next up, the Philippines, and I hope to share SUP with whatever paddle board that I can find to share what I love. I have one SUP board of my own; with a new BOGO board I would leave my old one behind at a far off destination, and repeat year after year. Athleta apparel helps protect my skin from the rays all while looking stylish, and Dakine bags are not only great for transporting SUPs during travel but also for my own personal gear.

Paddle boarding and utah are generally not synonymous, but I would attempt to make them so–at least for me. I would throw the paddle board in my 4-runner and essentially paddle across the state of utah, north to south. What a fun way to spend the summer, see the state, and get to know intimately the bodies of water in this desert state! Paddle boarding…in the desert!

Living on the coast of Maine I would use this SUP year round! As a surfer I am happiest when I am on the water. There is no greater sense of peace and relaxation. There are so many bodies of water around that this could be used on, lakes, ponds, the Atlantic Ocean…. I even think my dog my enjoy hopping on for a ride.

Last summer I was introduced to paddle boarding. My sister in law had given her daughters boards for Christmas the year before and when we went up to MA to visit over the summer she took us out on them. I have grown up in the mountains of VA. We have two man made lakes within an hour of us and a natural phenomenon, Mountain Lake. I had seen a small group of paddlers out on Claytor Lake earlier in the season and was dying to try it. So, up to MA and out we go! What a blast! I was hooked! My sweet hubby snuck out and scouted out a used board for me. He managed to get it from MA to VA without my noticing. Christmas morning was fantastic! I am waiting for the spring thaw to take my board out and would love to have another board available to share with friends and family.

I’m not a gym girl. Went on vacation in VA, 3 years ago and I saw a paddle boarder. I loved what I saw. I was on a quest to find out more. I purchased ( with my coupon :-) a “beginner” one last spring, from a sports shop. I have 2 children so Mommy doesn’t indulge for herself to often! I live across the street from a lake, so last summer I got up and went out. I love it. However, I do see the need for an upgrade this summer, plus a second board. My children 10 and 12 love it also! My husband has a 2 person kayak, with another paddle board each morning can be family time with exercise. When we go back to VA this summer I want to be the woman out there to inspire someone else!

For the past 2 years my husband and I have been picking up trash out of thwe worlds waterways from our paddleboards. We have invented a net to attach to the paddle so you really don’t mess with your stroke as we pick up. We tie down a basket on the front of the board to hold the trash. To date we have picked over 2 tons of trash from Fla.(where we live) Nicaragua, Portugal, and where ever we go. This equipment will help me to pursue my dream of plastic free waters in our world. Without clean water we will not be able to survive nor enjoy life. And I am so looking forward to starting yoga this spring. I love the Athleta wear for its comfort and durability while paddleing.

I just discovered Athleta apparel last year. The most comfortable bathing suits ever!! I stay pretty active on the water. I live in the Florida Keys and am on the water every chance I get freediving and exploring what we call the backcountry which is a perfect place to paddleboard and experience nature as it was intended. It would be used!!

I’m more physically active and fit at age 47 than I’ve ever been in my entire life. Yes, at first it was vanity that pushed me to the gym. But fitness has become a very important part of my life; keeping me young and healthy, providing me with stress relief and empowerment. Something women of my age desperately need. Last summer, I rented a paddleboard for the very first time. Who would believe that after a lifetime of vacationing on the Gulf of Florida, we would discover a brand new way to enjoy the same beach? We run on the beach, we play bocci ball, swim, float, snorkel. Paddleboard? All I can say is the day we rented the board, was the most fun we’ve had on the beach in many years. The smooth Gulf water was the perfect setting. My college-age daughters ditched laying on the beach, in exchange for the boards. My 9-year-old son beamed as even he was able to master it. And yes even mom, at age 47, did too. I saw the beach that I love from a new angle. I took in the beautiful scenery not from my beach chair, but balancing atop the board as I glided through the water. A BOGA paddleboard? Yes, please!

In a couple of weeks I will be turning 48. As that turn is about to occur, I also hear the chimes of the big 5-0, but the chimes sound enticing. Instead of hearing this as a number to dread, I look at it as a time to challenge myself. I have set some goals to achieve in areas of strength, flexibility, adventure, spirituality, and community.

Adventure? Yes. Paddleboarding is something I have been wanting to try for quite sometime, so I made it a goal on our January Hawaii trip to give it a shot – I LOVED it!
And lucky me, home is on the the beautiful Lake Superior. This is a treasure I intend to utilize and share. My desire is to paddle board along it’s shores (while strengthening my core in a hot swimsuit ;)), but I have needed a board that I can maneuver myself (“Power to the She”). BOGA boards would fit the bill perfectly!
Dakine bags? Maybe there is another trip to Hawaii in my future with bags named like that! Or maybe the name is telling me to try a little bit of everything…….anywhere. :)

  15. Have falling deeply in love with SUP yoga having just returned from Wanderlust – Oahu. Many of the instructors I had the opportunity to learn from couldn’t say enough about the BOGA boards! Yay! I am excited to start to introduce the sport on the chilly waters of Lake Superior where I teach seasonal daily outdoor yoga classes. Truly humbles your practice to have your mat constantly moving underneath you! I am also excited for some moonlit paddles with my two younger daughters with hopes of seeing some shooting stars or possibility of catching the Northern Lights. The beauty of the starlit sky above and the calm of the water below = complete BLISS!

I live in the beach in New York City, Queens actually, in a well kept secret neighborhood called Rockaway Beach. Since we were recently decimated by Superstorm Sandy, our lovely little beachside community has become famous, for all the wrong reasons. This is a strong, healthy community, and we have picked ourselves up by our bootstraps, and everyone helps everyone out! Last sumneri, pre-Sandy, we started group paddles and SUP yoga as a way to bond. Well, most of us lost our stuff in the storm, and we need to bond, now more than ever. So, my adventure doesn’t involve an exotic locale, or a long distance trek, but rather using this beautiful board to get my community out on the waves, and see everyone smile again! :)

I started stand up paddleboarding in July 2012, and it’s become my passion. As a 56 yr old, who kayaks, dives, and sails, I love the water. I go out 3-5 times a week, and started a meetup group and in 6 weeks we have 70 members (lkayakers and paddleboarders) I want to get into yoga on the board, in fact there is a yoga SUP teacher training coming up but it is too pricey for my budget. My current board is a touring board, and I need one for doing yoga, although I have done some downdogs, childs pose, and tried sun salutaiton, but the board is too tip-ey. Everyone comments on how fit it’s keeping me, I love sharing this new passion, and have inspired many to try it (working with local shops to give our club discounts, such as buy one hour, get one free, etc) I am currently inspired to do the 22 mile north shore to south shore in Lake Tahoe. Gotta train! Thank you! ;-)

The sun! The challenge! The peace! The three reasons why I want a paddle board more than anything. I’ll be beginning a career as an economist in DC in June, but my heart belongs in the wilderness, not in a city. During the week I get to prove myself as a strong woman in a man’s world, but on the weekend I just want to prove myself as part of nature. A paddle board and a few dollars for gas money will give me the freedom to do so!

March 26. 6:15AM. I look out my window and peer into the dark sky. Large, fluffy snowflakes are falling. Coffee pot on, yoga mat out. A few sun salutations, and my mind wanders… as I stretch out in down dog, I am floating on Bear Lake, with a stand up paddle board beneath me. I balance over gentle waves and jump into a forward bend. Tree pose next, and my dristi point becomes a buoy in the imaginary distance. I can feel the sun on my shoulders. My four year-old bounds down the stairs and drags his mat over next to mine, bouncing me out of my daydream SUP yoga practice. He catches a glimpse of the snow in the window and gleefully yells, “Mommy it’s snowing!” Coffee is ready, and I turn on the computer. We surf the web for stand up paddleboards. This is the year I will treat us to one, and I have already been saving up. Now I drift over to the Athleta website. There is a contest to win a BOGA-YOGA board, Swimfinity wardrobe and Dakine gear? Yes please! Maybe my daydream this morning will become reality!

I never have been super athletic but after two back surgeries, pounds gained, no stamina, etc. etc., I decided that it was time to change. I have lost 23 pounds and 32 inches, workout 3-4 times a week, and do so much more than I ever used to like hiking, biking, river rafting, and just generally enjoying the outdoors. Last summer during a visit to see family at Flathead Lake, MT, I desperately wanted to try paddleboarding but time constraints hampered that plan. I finally got my chance while recently on vacation in the USVI’s and am absolutely hooked! I enjoyed it thoroughly and absolutely CRAVE getting back on one. I know that a new BOGA Yoga stand up paddleboard and gear from Dakine and Athleta would only help me improve my new fit and healthy lifestyle. Thank you so much for this opportunity!

I am blessed to live in an area where there are so many different lakes to explore with this wonderful sport.
A dream that I know would come true when I win this amazing prize is to go to Hawaii and paddle and explore all over the islands.
Another dream is to become a more advanced paddle gal and be able to surf and do yoga on my board. So many opportunities on one piece of equipment. I will be AHmazing

Before kids, I would workout 7 days a week…running, gym, aerobics & yoga. As hard as it is now to even get anywhere near I was back then, Yoga is my one constant. I’m in Love with the way it makes me feel & brings me a little bit more back to myself. I have done SUP twice now & have found that it gives me the same feeling that Yoga does. To be able to combine the two would be a huge dose of happiness for me…and to have my kids see their Momma doing something that makes her so happy…PRICELESS!

I am an avid participant in yoga and pilaties. I am also a very outdoorsy person. I LOVE the water, the beach, the lake, anywhere near the water is my dream location. I have recently began paddle boarding and when I am out on the water, working my arms, legs, and core, taking in the beautiful scenery, I find I am more at peace then I have ever been. I am a part time worker and full time college student. Money is usually an issue as it becomes increasingly difficult to afford an education. Dakine has been one of my favorite brands since I was a newly 13 year old snowboarder. I would fully utilize my Dakine and Athleta gear to remain active and healthy and ease the stress of daily life. I would be most great full to have the opportunity to own my very own paddle board and connect more with nature on a regular basis. THANK YOU! <3

We’re blessed with having Portage Canal, Lake Superior, and several hundred other lakes and waterways surrounding us here. I discovered the fun of paddleboarding last summer on a trip to the Outer Banks of NC and thought how perfect it would be to have one to explore the waterways outside my own back door at home! I haven’t picked one up, yet, but spring is nearly here (despite our 7 feet of snow on the groung), and I think it’s about time that I made a plan to paddle around my home turf!

Hi, my name is Brittany Wilson. I live on Lake Lanier in the suburbs of Atlanta, GA. I spend my time between here and Tybee Island, GA. You could say I love to be on the water but that would be an understatement. We are spiritual naturists that spend our days connecting with the earth and sky. What a beautiful gift it is to be physically capable yet spiritually inclined. Money isn’t exactly our most bountiful crop so investing in the extras can be challenging. A BOGA board would an incredible addition to our repotoire of toys. I want so much to be on the water in my new beach city, but I have overcome a spinal injury, and surfing, so far, has looked ‘out’ for me. I have decided that I CAN paddle and I’ve been spending this year getting ready for this summer, when my husband and I planned on purchasing a board! I will paddle at first throughout Dana Point Harbor, looking at all the beautiful boats, and then when I see the ocean is flat, I’ll head out there. And who knows, maybe by the end of the summer, I’ll be trying some waves? If I spend my summer outside on a board and being physically active, I will be one happy person.

The rivers around the area where I live would be a great oppurtunity to paddle and explore. AND to expose others to the grand adventure SUP offers! I want to start a paddle club and find out what’s around the next bend with others seeking to connect with nature. A full body work out is what I expect from SUP and I think a BOGA yoga board would be grand! Do a few poses…paddle paddle paddle…take in the beauty of nature…paddle paddle paddle…deep breaths…paddle paddle – you know what I’m talking about! Everyone needs balance in their lives; Emotional, physical and nutritional. A BOGA board would be my way of attaining 2 of the 3 of these! I won’t say having a BOGA board would be ‘life changing’, but it will be ‘Life Enhancing’! …and Athleta wear w/ Dakine gear? Well that’s the icing on the cupcake isn’t it?

Paddleboarding is fast becoming a favorite sport in our community, Wolfeboro, NH the Oldest Resort in America! I am an aquatic specialist and would love to incorporate paddleboarding into our summer programs here in Wolfeboro. We have many lakes that are ripe for exploring. I am scheduled to train to be a paddle board instructor this June. What fun it woud be to have my own board. I love exploring and teaching peole of all ages all things water. What a better way than to teach paddleboarding and leading adventures on our many lakes in NH.

I love being outdoors. There is just something about being alone in nature, near the water and the trees, that makes you feel like you are at peace. Sometimes the struggles and stress of being in the city every day can really take a toll on your body. You can get sluggish and tired. But, step right outside and BAM! Fresh air, light surf, the sun’s rays warm on your face. Paddleboarding is an outlet– a way to be one with nature and to be light.
I have been renting SUPs almost weekly (sometimes bi-weekly) during the spring and summer months because I love chasing that feeling. Now that my husband and I have a cross-over SUV, with roof rails thank goodness, I can take this SUP anywhere and everywhere. My goal would be to ride up to Victorian Canada and go paddleboarding in late winter, early spring. I would also love to SUP Lake Michigan and out in the pacific Northwest (I am from Southern New Jersey).
This SUP would legitimately make my life complete!

I would love to have a paddleboard for my daughter (5 this summer!!) and I to be able to use on our local lakes and when we go up to the Great Lakes for our mini girls retreat with my mom and sister. Every year we try to find one new ‘stay fit have fun’ activity to do together (getting a little easier as she gets older). Last year we watched the paddleboarders all summer and agreed that we would have to try it this year. She is a little adventurer who is a mini version of the ‘power to the she.’
The paddleboard would give us another chapter in our great ways to explore the world around you!

I am newly empty nested and young (really, I had my kids young!), and caught up in the busy life of working fulltime (in the ATL) and caring for elderly parents. I have found a new sense of self and SUP lets me step away from the busyness of every day and into mindfulness and peace. It challenges me, calms me, and quite often I am able to laugh at myself, while taking in the scenery of wherever I paddle. My best friend is a cancer survivor, still in the stages of reconstruction – we just took a girls trip to run a 10K and SUP, this being her first attempt…and of course she’s hooked! We hope to get a few good weekends on the water before her next surgery in April. It will give her something to look forward to later in the summer!
I love the Athleta and Dakine brands!! I travel for work and have many Dakine bags that I currently use. You’de have to give them away before you could ever wear them out! I also have the Athleta swimsuits because I am confident in their quality and coverage for use on the board. Just place a new order today to start my spring wardrobe. It’s nice to be able to buy quality ‘tall’ size apparel for an active lifestyle!! Thank you BOGA, Dakine, and Athleta for such a chance as this!

I’m an active 30 something who loves the outdoors and finding activities to stay fit while having fun. My husband is a lifelong surfer and has tried on multiple occasions to teach me the art, but alas, I am not for the waves. I love the water though, which is important, since he is in the Navy and we are almost guaranteed a coast of some sort! I had the opportunity to try paddle boarding for the first time about a year ago at his “home beach” in the outer banks of NC and it was amazing. I had a great time paddling around with him, finally! We are now living on the Cali coast and there is so much to explore. I would love a BOGA SUP to join him on his paddles (he kayaks too!) so we can enjoy the wildlife and scenery together. I’ve also recently developed a love for yoga and would love to try some sun salutations out on the water amongst the otters, seals and starfish!

Five years ago, when my second daughter was a newborn we went to Hawaii. On one of my 6am beach walks with an infant, I saw a graceful mamma standing on a board peacefully paddling with a little boy sitting calmly on the bow. I didn’t know what paddle boarding was, but I thought, “I want do that!” Later that year, I visited a surf shop in Seattle (where I live) that rented SUPs. I tried it once and bought my first board. I have enjoyed paddle boarding locally on the sound, on lakes and work a paddleboard ride into every vacation spot I go. My daughters have gone from passengers on my bow to learning the wonderful sport of paddle boarding. I’d love to pass my board on to them and have a BOGA to ride next to them! 

I also have a 7 year old son who is very active and athletic. Paddleboarding is the one sport where I can participate with him as he loves the sport as well. If I won the board, and accessories, I would use it to form the bond with my son, and instead of being just a spoectator parent, be a participant in a sport we both love. This would allow us to explore new places together and grow together in our fitness and our love of paddleboarding.

Paddleboarding has been on my bucket list for the last year. I am approaching the big 3-0 on May 4th and as it gets closer I am checking things off my list. I am a single young woman that is a neonatal ICU nurse. I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA and just this January I needed to get out and see more of what life has to offer. So I began my adventure as a travel nurse. I have always been one to run/walk and go to the gym. It is my stress reliever and quite honestly as a nurse the best therapy since we really can’t talk about our patients. I drove across country with my labrador, Callie, and started this amazing new chapter in my life in California. I am planning on going all over the US and see as many cities and places as possible. Moving every 8-13 weeks makes it difficult to go to gyms and get involved with workout places. So starting this year I am finding more ways to get a work and my therapy back. I am looking forward to learning how to paddleboard and incorporate it into my life. I have constantly been battling that tummy problem zone for the last few years with all kinds of intense working out regimens and I think this would really give me that core workout every day that would give me the results I want but also be the therapy I need:) I have looked at boards and LOVE the BOGA boards….they are amazing and perfect for a woman. I am 4’11″ so definitely need one more geared for a woman as I am obviously “vertically challenged”. Thank you for considering me!!! and please help a nurse out:)

With my own paddleboard and accessories, I would use it to help my husband with his chronic inner ear/diziness issues and explore the southern california coastline from the water. His doctor has said that only activities that constantly challenge his balance will effectively re-train his brain to cope with the vertigo. With a paddleboard we would be able to work on it together now, in a peaceful setting he loves (the beach). Once he’s recovered we can use it to further our fitness and exploration goals :-)

The outdoors make me feel most at peace, especially on or near the water. Running, yoga on the beach, kayaking, and surfing. Paddle boarding is next on my list of things to incorporate into my routine. The past year threw some curve balls at me. I’ve decided to do what makes me happy and part of this decision is relocating to one of my favorite places, Hawaii (within the next year). My hope is to find my inner peace and tranquility. What better way than to paddle board the water of scenic Kauai, the stellar waves on the North Shore, or along the beautiful volcanic coast of the Big Island. Then to finish off the nice ride with some calming yoga on the board. Nothing screams serenity better to me.

I started SUPing a couple years ago in lake placid, NY and I bought my first board last summer. So far, my board has been to the finger lakes in upstate NY, Lake Ontario, the white mnts, Burlington VT, and all over the adirondacks. It even got wrapped in power lines during the hurricane last fall. We were on our way to Acadia national park and had to take a detour north because of the storm. We were going through Waterbury VT and almost most had a tree land on the car, but instead power lines got caught in our boards. Firemen released us!!

I have paddled all winter long in upstate New York, but I can’t wait for the warm fresh air and water. I planned to make it to Acadia this summer, outer banks in June and, back to the adirondacks for portages and island camps. I have a group of 6 paddlers that are eager to load up our paddle boards and back pack island to island.

I also started doing sup races and yoga. Id love to send in an awesome picture of a wheel on my board!!

We are about to embark on a new LIFE adventure…moving from California to Georgia! Living in Santa Cruz has given our family (four children!) a wonderful outdoor-activity culture. We love to be in the ocean, at the State parks on hikes, or outside discovering nature. We’ve also been exposed to the booming population of paddle boarders. One of our best friends is Chris Chandler, who is sponsored by Boga! He has taught me to some basics out in the water, and I am so wishing I had a board of my own. Now especially because we are moving near Lake Lanier in Georgia! It is so important to me that our family stays outdoors and takes in the beauty around us while staying healthy. I am also on a journey out of old tattered chubby clothes and into losing weight and looking great in Dakine and Athleta gear! I check the websites often for motivation! I hope you’ll consider this Mama moving across the country and wanting to keep that active lifestyle.

It wasn’t until my first (uninstructed) paddle board outing that I caught a glimpse of reality The reality that our gifts are what make us happy – happy enough that when we fall or fail it does not dissuade us from getting back on top of it and moving forward, and that these gifts and our happiness are our special talent. The last several years have been challenging, humbling, exciting, adventurous and I am more at peace then I have ever been in my entire life! I discovered SUP’n (among many things) by reading many of your fascinating articles and personal stories from some fantastic women who follow your blogs (This is my first time entry). I live in the great Northwoods of Wisconsin and have three beautiful teenage daughters along with my husband. I stay active (and stress-free) by running half-marathons, practicing yoga, cardio/kickboxing and attending al-anon support meetings. Last summer, while alone at home for an entire week I rented a paddleboard from our local rental shops to use on the beautiful Wisconsin lake we live on. I was paddling along very slowly along the shoreline trying to get my bearings, when I hear an older gentlemen on his pier fishing shout out, “what the heck are you doing?” Trying to keep my balance while laughing, I looked up and laughingly said, “I’m SUP’n!” and he said, “I’ve never seen such a thing (while shaking his head)..!” Knowing I was the first SUP’r on Lake Shishebogama, I am determined to do it every year and explore doing yoga on the stand up paddleboard as well this year! I’m sure my daughters would enjoy using it as well while entertaining their friends during our summer months. Thank you for this opportunity and keep up the great work!!

I love nothing more than to pack a dry bag and spend the whole day on my board. A Boga board is practical and beautiful, and I’d use it as part of my apartment’s decor when I wasn’t using it on the water. Stand up paddling is a way for me to go and explore the waters from a new perspective. I love looking below the water from on top of my board, seeing the variety of sea life swimming underneath, from sting rays, to jelly fish and the occasional sea lion. While paddling, I am also more aware of my surroundings, approaching the sounds, sights and smells a bit differently. The early morning calmness rejuvenates me. I hold dear the friendships of my fellow paddlers. Most of my paddling has been done on a bay or lake. An infinite paddling adventure to me would be to explore waterways that you cannot get to by foot, tucked away, offering views not seen by many, taking care to not disturb the natural habitat. My husband and daughter would be paddling alongside me. I am delighted that I am able to experience nature in a new way with them and watch her develop a love of the water.

Last summer I tried paddleboarding for the first time and fell in love. Hard. It was the kind of love that took my breath away, made my legs wobbly, and forced me to brace my gut. It was a wind-swept lake in the middle of summer love, you know the kind…when you feel giddy, exhilarated, and a little frightened. You become hyper-aware of your breath moving in and out of your body, of your heart’s rhythmic beating in your chest. It made everything become a contradiction in terms: my senses were heightened but drawn inward, everything around me appeared more vivid, but somehow softer. I didn’t care how often I tumbled in to the water; it was worth braving the cold to keep trying. And each time I climbed back on the board, I felt triumphant, determined. As the twilight of summer turned to autumn and the long NH winter crept in, I kept that spark alive, looking to reunite again the following summer.

Paddleboarding isn’t an activity limited to local or exotic waters – it’s an endless sense of adventure, poetry in motion, freedom. With help from BOGO, Dakine and Athleta, I could achieve that this summer!

I thought about starting off with how old I’ll be turning in 2 months (45 by the way), but figured I’d say how young I’m feeling. One year ago, I started practicing yoga to help with my running. A sore hip had me sidelined for a lot of races and postponing those races didn’t seem to be helping the hip problem. Yoga has been a God send. My running has improved, I feel fantastic and I don’t want to stop here. One of the things I’ve had on my “bucket list” is the desire to learn how to surf, paddleboard, or anything in that family. When I heard about doing yoga on a paddleboard, I clicked on Google and began my search. Not surprising, I came to Athleta. The best of both worlds. I am huge Athleta fan and patron. So with plans to visit family in Puerto Rico, my Athleta swimsuits and some super cool Dakine equipment, the only thing missing is a BOGA paddleboard. ;-)

I see this as a reason to travel and to have an outdoor activity that I love! My husband kayaks, hunts and hikes the mountains when we go to Colorado. This is something that is for me and I couldn’t be more excited thinking that he would want to do something that I have! :) We also have three girls that absolutely love the water and I love to set good examples for them of being active. I just spent the last six months recovering from “surgical complications”. Bottom line – I lived, survived massive blood loss and I have a scar to wear forever. A doctor in the hospital said “well your bikini days are over.” Later once the healing began I was able to laugh at that and adopted a new mantra “does the scar wear you or do you wear the scar?” I used images (both imaginary and of Athleta catalog pages taped to my IV pole and walls) of paddle boarding, swimming in rivers and walking on beaches to escape the surgical table anxiety. Water, be it a stream or an ocean helped me keep my sanity when I was riddled with fear. I have been able to go with the flow with a smile and know that there are other adventures ahead that require me holding a paddle not a walker or an IV pole. I want to wear my scars and take my attitude out on my first paddle board.

I am a Montana girl, so water = lake; jet skiing, wake boarding and swimming. Water means swimsuits and, once upon a time ago, cover ups and baggy shorts. 3 years ago I cringed at the thought of weekends at the lake. I never went in the water. My weight hindered me in many areas of my life; life was literally passing by as I sat and watched my family play. That was then…

I’m also a mother going back to school for my nursing degree and with one income and raising a family, a board is not in our budget. In addition to healing my patients with medicine, I would love to take my BOGA board with me and introduce them to the health and wellness power of water therapy. I can see myself paddling down the Amazon River with my young patient on the front of my board enjoying the beautiful and peaceful scenery. There will be many other medical missions in other countries and where there is water, my BOGA board will follow…and my Dakine bags not too far behind me. When not traveling, I will introduce SUP therapy to the local patients and paddle on the Tampa Bay and along the GULF shores. The realization occurred after I spent two years working in a cubical for long hours. I have since gotten back into yoga and hiking.
I discovered my love of paddleboarding on a trip to Florida last year. I was immediately addicted and came home and researched purchasing one for myself. Since I live in Minnesota, I have easy access to lakes that are great for paddling on. Unfortunately, I realized purchasing one of my own did not fit within my budget.
If I were to win the Boga Yoga & Paddleboard, Dakine bags, and Athleta Swimfinity package I would be able to take my passion with me to lakes of Minnesota on a regular basis and on a variety of trips across the US. This package would allow me to continue my renewed lifestyle of connecting with nature and living a healthy and active lifestyle while exploring the world around me near and far.

I started paddle boarding last summer to help with my back pain and of course, like everyone else, have fallen in love. It helped me get exercise and also helped bring peace after those long stressful days at work. I just turned 30 last week and live in Lake Tahoe. I love everything this place has to offer. I have lots of future plans to travel so the luggage would come in super handy. The paddle board would give me every opportunity I have to be on the water summer and winter. I also would like to enter some local contests. The Athleta gear would just be fantastic as I am in need of some good clothes.

    Best Wishes to Everyone!

Spring has sprung and I am ready to get outdoors. Biarritz Tankini and bottom: Check. Beachcomber pants in TALL: check. Pacifica UPF Shirt: Check. Throw on the flip flops and head down to the dock. While my significant other gets his sailboat ready for the day I peel off the pants, bring out the BOGA paddleboard and get a good workout on the bay. Sailboat ready now, hop off the paddleboard and put it on the boat and enjoy a day on the water with the family–pulling on and off Athleta gear as needed. Day in the sun: Enjoyed. Time with family outside: Excellent. BOGA paddleboard: Top Notch. Day Complete! BRING ON THE SUN

“Have you seen the girl out on the bay? She paddles effortlessly, or at least that appears to be the goal. She is always out there, paddling, training, instructing, and having fun. We have seen her by herself, with friends, clients and her dogs. She takes the boards to and fro, making it look so easy. Now she does yoga and fitness on her board.”
“No, I have not seen her. Each day I see mangroves, I see people who love paddling. Each day I see waves, and sea life. I do see people enjoying their love for the water. Sometimes I see pets, or people doing yoga. But most of the time I see my board, or my paddle. Because I am the girl on the bay!

Driving down the bumpy road to the Bioluminescent Bay in Vieques, Puerto Rico, our guide shouted out “who wants to explore the bay on a paddleboard?” Immediately I called out “I do!” Being 47 years old and never been on a paddleboard did not stop me, neither did the fact that it was pitch dark. (And, on the flight down I said to my now fiance-he proposed to me while we were there-”I am going to go paddleboarding while we are on Vieques). Sure enough, I did. We got to the bay and our 18 year old guide gave me the board, I hopped on and he shoved me into the water-hard. I lurched, but did not fall, using my yoga practice to balance me on the board. Moments later, disoriented and heading into the mangrove I got my groove. I was in my element, and the next hour and a half was awesome! I will use my board at home on the Connecticut River, in Maine at the coast, and in Delaware when I visit my family at the beach. I will haul my super comfy sporty clothes and gear in my handy Dakine bag. Love my new sport and would love to win a paddleboard to make my dream of having my very own SUP come true. It would be a perfect wedding present!

I am in land-locked Central California, but within an easy drive of many reservoirs, lakes, and rivers. There’s a beautiful lake surrounded by mountains just an hour or so from me, where we tent camp often, and where standup paddleboarding is a gentle, serene workout. SUP’ing is not only something I want to make a regular part of my active life, but of my daughter’s. This summer, she’ll be learning technique, history, and anything else she can about the sport, then will present the entire subject as a multi-media presentation to three adult judges. Winning a package of products will help us both — her to have a board at the ready, and me to become an impassioned paddling partner.

I decided last year to stop being a couch potato and find fitness. I’ve never been fit or active. I started running, strength training, etc. Now I want to find fun in fitness. There’s a lot of paddleboarding out on Tampa Bay. I’d love to try it. My husband and oldest son are water rats and love being in it. I want to stop watching and join in the fun. This is the year of ME!

The smell of plumeria in the air. The slap of the ocean on the board. A turtle poking it’s head out of the surf. This is my dream day in Hawaii on a BOGA paddle board, wearing my Athleta swim suit that I pulled out of my Dakine bag. PERFECTION.

“Chance encounters have a habit of changing one in unexpected ways some call it chance some destiny” Being on a paddle board brought back the love of the ocean. I had a near death expereince as a young child that would always make me shy away from the water. We are a military family and were stationed in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, which allowed me to face my fears head on and was introduced back to the water by a paddle board. I was able to explore many creatures in the water and get comfortable with the water again all by a paddle board. We just had to move due to military orders and there is not really a paddle boarding community here that it makes my heart sad. I miss paddling around the waters as it was therapy for the healing soul.

This might sound a little nuts but i had a dream about paddle boarding on a competition team through zion national park, when it’s flooded, that’s when i knew i had a passion SUP, when my dreams included paddle boarding in areas that aren’t possible! If i am confined to reality for places to go i would start at home, there is a reservoir near my apartment that i love walking around and dream of one day paddling along in the still, cool mornings. In fact they don’t allow paddle boards yet but if i have my druthers i will be changing that policy and starting my own paddling mamas club. Can you imagine a whole league of moms paddling out their worries on beautiful Boga boards?! I CAN! One day i will!

  89. I have recently discovered paddleboarding and LOVE it! I am constantly thinking about when I can do it again and plan vacations to beautiful places and always google places that rent paddleboards! Now if I had my own….I can only imagine the places I would take it….the Outerbanks, the DE shore and I would love to take it out along the Tidal Basin here in DC, especially in the next few weeks with the cherry blossoms in bloom. What an adventure! I would love to get my three year old daughter comfortable enough to sit on the front for a ride (in her life vest of course!). Getting my daughter into SUP and fitness early in her life. She has an adventurous spirit already, just like her mum!

I am getting certified to teach yoga and would love to take my practice to the next level and do it on a SUP. How serene!

Of course the gear from Dakine and Athleta would help power me through my adventures in SUP, hiking, yoga, marathon running, teaching spin classes, LIFE!

People take long-distance, multi-day kayaking trips. I want to make my journey on the water via paddleboard. The course I’ve chartered is on Michigan’s 252 mile-long Grand River as it passes through the cities of Jackson, Eaton Rapids, Lansing, Grand Ledge, Portland, Ionia, Lowell, Grand Rapids and Grand Haven before emptying into Lake Michigan. I’ll enjoy the scenic views along the way. Seek out wildlife. Wave hello to kayakers and the people fishing. Take a few pictures. Breathe the fresh air. Soak up the sunshine and then cool off in the rain. I’ll take a break now and then to do a few yoga stretches, which may lead to an inadvertent dip in the water, and then maybe sip a frosty beverage (I’m bringing a cooler). It will take me some time but look out Lake Michigan. Here I come.

I love paddle boarding!!! My husband and I wanted to try something new last year and took a class – totally hooked after that. There is nothing like being on one of our many Minnesota lakes and experience the peace and quiet while boarding. The BOGA board would give my family a chance to be out on the lake with me and my friends to come fall in love with the sport like I did. Athleta gear would make me look even more attractive while on the BOGA board, and since we travel to different lakes, the luggage would be the perfect addition.

I’m a Dragon Boat Racer and have always wanted to add SUP to my training. I currently train out of Mother’s Beach in Long Beach and every weekend see a lot of paddlers while sailing by in the Dragon Boat.

I’m in my 50′s and the best shape of my life. I would like to get good enough to compete in SUP and be an inspiration to all women around the world that life is amazing in your adult years as long as you take care of yourself and stay fit and active!

I am often asked “what do you do as I want to look like you” and I say “we are all unique and different and no 2 people will have exactly the same plan and lifestyle. Be happy, stay fit, eat clean, have fun, and smile often!”

I have been longingly watching the paddle boarders at Rehoboth Beach DE for a few summers now. I am always up to try a new thing, and since surfing isn’t really an option in Rehoboth (no waves!), paddle boarding would be a great alternative. I am 44 and just finished a second master’s degree in Clinical Counseling and have started a whole new chapter in my life. I just discovered yoga and it is the exercise for which I have been looking my whole life! I completely think that paddle boarding could be the same for me! it would be exciting to have the equipment and clothing to support the new me!

When I was 12, I starting suffering from what was later diagnosed as Endometriosis, but I didn’t know that at the time. I was often in pain and miserable. I went from playing a variety of sports to not exercising at all. I learned to manage the pain and live with it. My husband and I adopted 2 beautiful children in 2003 and 2005. Endometriosis did not stop me from becoming a mom, but it did limit me in so many ways. In 2009, I got very sick. After a long surgery, I was diagnosed with Advanced Stage 4 Endometriosis. I had 2 more surgeries in the next 10 months, finally having a hysterectomy in March of 2010. Since then, I have starting working out, running and my absolute favorite thing of all…SUPing. I love pushing myself and having a body that is healthy and strong. I love sharing the idea of being healthy and strong with my kids. One of my all time favorite moments was last summer, when I took my daughter for a paddle down the river in Ogunquit, Maine…she sat on the front and I paddled and we chatted and watched the birds and the fish…it was wonderful. My daughter loves to SUP as much as I do and it is a wonderful thing to share with her. To have a a board and fabulous new clothes to wear and a great new bag to carry our things would be amazing. We will paddle down the river and play on the beach and take all of the other children on the beach for SUP rides so that they become as hooked as we are.

I recently moved cross country from Connecticut to follow my lifelong dream of living and working in Colorado. Since I was young I have had a love of the outdoors and being active. No challenge is insurmountable as each journey towards greatness begins with that first step. My journey began when I left my comfort zone and packed my car and drove cross country. Similar to my move cross country a month ago, I would pack my Dakine bags and be ready for any adventure, strap my new BOGA yoga paddleboard to my roof and I would embark on my next adventure. I would explore Colorado’s Lakes and Water Sources to begin but would be open-minded to what lies ahead. No destination is too far and no journey to long or out of reach. Outfitted with Athleta apparel, I would pair my love of sport and the outdoors and have the experience of a lifetime in style. Because life is truly what we make of it and each day I am truly blessed to wake up and have the opportunities that are set before me.

  97. I have been a longtime paddler and this winter while in Costa Rica I went on my first paddleboard adventure on the Bongo River, exploring the remote jungle and paddled to the beach. I am also a yoga teacher and I am fascinated with SUP yoga. I lead Yoga Adventures, taking participants into the outdoors in the Berkshires and have been focusing on hikes, kayak trips and in the winter snowshoeing. If I won this incredible contest, I would explore all the lakes and ponds in my backyard in the Berkshires. I also intend on becoming a skilled leader in SUP yoga so that I could add it to my programming and also to the volunteer trips that I lead for SheJumps as an ambassador and teach others this peaceful new way to explore the outdoors.

It’s 4:57 pm on Tuesday, March 26, 2013. I hear the humming sound of a respirator in the bed next to my husband. He takes deep breaths and is sleeping now. Everything has come into perspective as I sit next to him while he is in recovery. He had just been home for a week and a half and now just got out of surgery. He had been in the hospital for a painful 7 weeks and we rejoiced when he was able to eat and come home.

We made a commitment when he recovers that we are going to play outside more and enjoy the beautiful ocean near us in our lovely Orange County, CA. We were intrigued last summer when we saw others in Dana Point, CA doing SUP. If I win, these gifts will be used to their fullest. We are truly grateful for every moment together and would love to enjoy days at the beach taking turns on the paddleboard. It would be an amazing gift for my husband and bring some pleasure after so much pain.

    With extreme gratitude,

The perfect plan! I recently visited my oldest daughter who lives in San Diego. i was psyched to try paddleboarding with her & my younger daughter.I researched where to go ,lessons, etc. long story short…They bailed on the idea (said it was too cold) :( I even brought them into the paddleboard shop in Laguna in hopes of convincing them to paddle with the dolphins . So. i figure.I win the board, give it to my daughter in Ca. to practice (shes always wanted to go) we get all geared up in Athleta wear (which i promise we will look amazing in..ok..they will, ill be a close 2nd! )& use the luggage for me & my youngest to travel back & enjoy an amazing day &memories with my girls on the sea.Hopefully, the first of many !
