Do you believe that if you take care of your own health and well-being, you have more capacity to take care of others? Our Athleta Award of Inspiration recipient from the Iron Girl Del Mar event is living proof that self-care has a positive impact on the lives of our loved ones…
I started running six years ago after my doctor cautioned me about diabetes (everyone in my immediate family has diabetes as well as other relatives). I loved running so much that I started doing marathons and half-marathons. Running gave me the strength to believe in myself and in my health. Last year, my brother’s diabetes led to his vision loss and kidney failure and on September 7, 2011 I was able to donate my kidney to him. We are doing well and we hope to continue being committed to maintaining good health and treasuring each day we have!
