Yoga with Drisana Carey & New York Bloggers

Drisana Carey

One of the many benefits of yoga is the instant sense of community you feel in a class of people (known or unknown) connected through this ancient practice. Add to that the value of meeting like-minded people through blogging, and you get a sense of the buzz that permeated Yoga Sutra on November 9th when Athleta hosted a special class for New York City bloggers featuring Drisana Carey (above), Athleta model and yoga teacher extraordinaire.

Each blogger arrived bright and early to get outfitted for a vinyasa practice followed by a healthy breakfast and time to connect outside of class. We thought you might enjoy meeting some of the ladies who attended and visiting their blogs…

FIT CHICK IN THE CITY blogger Jess is a fitness expert with a M.S. in Exercise Science and Health Promotion. We couldn’t agree more with her mindset about health and fitness… “Being fit isn’t about fitting into a wedding dress, a bikini or even about losing those last 5 pounds. Being fit is about changing the way you live your life. It’s about having a healthy mind and body.”

FITNESS NYC blogger Melissa writes about making health and fitness a fun part of your life. She’s a marathoner who credits running with helping her appreciate and respect her body and its strength and resilience. “I don’t work out to fit into skinny jeans, I do it for the exhilaration and invincibility I feel after a great long run or spinning class.”

What a wonderful concept! It’s so neat to see Drisana in action. She seems like such a beautiful and stately presence in the catalogs!

Yoga and blogging do go hand in hand! Writing, much like a good yoga practice, can be therapeutic for the mind. And many yogis seem like natural bloggers as it gives them a chance to share their passion with a broader audience. Great idea…….any future events planned?

I agree with Joslyn’s post… It’s so nice to see Drisana mingling and teaching since we usually only see her in postures (although I always love seeing pictures of her — so strong, so flexible, so beautiful). Can’t wait to read the interview with her, thanks for the links.
